The World's Greatest Waterfall
Victoria Falls is the world's largest sheet of falling water, located on the Zambezi River at the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia. Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya ("The Smoke That Thunders"), this UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World.
At peak flow, over 500 million liters of water cascade over the 1,708-meter-wide precipice every minute, creating a thunderous roar that can be heard from 40 kilometers away and a mist rising up to 400 meters high.
First documented by Scottish explorer David Livingstone in 1855, Victoria Falls has become Africa's premier adventure destination, offering everything from heart-pounding bungee jumps to serene sunset cruises on the Zambezi River.
